The UAE’s participation at the London Olympic Games 2012, a source of pride for every resident in the country, is being celebrated with a special showcase of events organised by Emaar Retail LLC in partnership with the UAE National Olympics Committee.
Among the highlights of the celebration is the big-screen live telecast of the various Olympic events at Dubai Ice Rink in a stadium-like ambience. A series of pre-Olympic activities will also be held at The Dubai Mall leisure attractions including themed exhibitions, colourful parades and motivational lectures for children, among others.

As part of the celebrations, the Olympic team was announced at a ceremony hosted by NOC and Emaar Retail at Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo recently. On the opening day of the Olympic Games (July 27), a Multicultural Parade will be held at 10pm, followed by the big screen telecast of the opening ceremony on the 20 m x 10 m LED screen at Dubai Ice Rink. Through the period of the Olympic Games, until August 12, visitors to the leisure assets of Emaar Retail in The Dubai Mall can watch the various games at the Olympics on the big screen live at Dubai Ice Rink.
An exciting event will be organized in partnership between the NOC and Emaar Retail, LLC, in which the Olympic mascots will be launched at KidZania®, the children’s edutainment city.
Emaar Retail will further build up the excitement with an Olympic-themed Summer Camp from June 24 to August 16; and a one-month long programme on the ‘Spirit of the Olympic Dream Paralympics’ highlighted by a series of motivational lectures for children during the KidZania® Games from July 8 to August 12.
Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a Worldwide Partner of the London 2012 Olympic Games, is the Presenting Sponsor of the various activities. Samsung’s latest Smartphone, GALAXY S III is the Official Olympic Games Phone during the London 2012 Games.
OMEGA – the official time keeper of 25 Olympics games will set up a special Olympic countdown clock at the Dubai Ice Rink for fans to take pictures. Other Co-Sponsors are McDonalds, and strategic partners include The Dubai Mall and the UAE National Olympic Committee.
Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, Dubai Ice Rink, SEGA Republic, KidZania® and Reel Cinemas will also roll out varied Olympic themed activities that will put the spotlight on the UAE team’s involvement in this momentous event.
