Dubai to host Future Cities Conference and Exhibition

Preparations for hosting the landmark Future Cities Conference & Exhibition, to be held next week is at its final touches, said Eng. Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality while he addressed media persons in a press conference exclusively called at civic body’s headquarters in Deira.

Future Cities, to be held on 2-4 October at Dubai International Exhibition Centre, is an event organised jointly by Dubai Municipality, Environmental Centre for Arab Towns, Arab Towns Organisation and Informa Exhibitions, to bring together a high-profile gathering of visionary leaders and influential policy makers from the around the world to inspire debate on the needs of the cities of tomorrow.

“We look forward to the Future Cities Conference and Exhibition and welcome key decision makers from cities, municipalities and local governments, including mayors, administrators and urban planners across the world to attend what will become three exciting days to share and incorporate new strategies and perspectives on how we can ready our cities for the challenges of tomorrow,” H.E. Eng. Lootah said in this regard.

He said more than 400 senior professionals and public sector officials are registered to attend the Future Cities conference to hear strategies and solutions for overcoming tomorrow’s urban challenges through transformation and innovation from 27 international expert speakers.

His Excellency Dr. Hani Mohammad Ahmad AbuRas, Mayor of Jeddah Municipality, KSA, in an exclusive presentation will lay out the action plan of Jeddah’s 2030 vision, analysing the social, economic and environmental challenges of the Kingdom’s second largest city.

The Right Hon. the Lord Mayor Lisa-M. Scaffidi from the City of Perth, Western Australia (WA), will present a unique case study on Perth as the Indian Ocean gateway to Australia and address the challenges of providing jobs and housing for a growing population while protecting and retaining WA’s high quality natural environments and resources.

Future Cities Conference and Exhibition will run alongside the leading international real estate investment and development event, Cityscape Global. Together the events are set welcome more than 20,000 participants from 160 countries over 3 days.

In addition to the various presentations and discussions, on the 4th of October Future Cities will host an exclusive full-day workshop on New Urbanism, a movement that promotes regional planning for open spaces and context appropriate architecture that have transformed real estate development and municipal land use strategies.
