Eid Al Adha public holidays are not yet officially announced
Today, the Dubai’s Grand Mufti announced that Thursday, October 25 would be Arafat Day. The next Friday, October 26, would be the first day of Eid Al Adha.
Saudi Arabia has earlier announced is that Wednesday will mark the first day of the Hejira month of Dhu Al Hijja. However, Eid Al Adha will fall on Friday, the 10th day of that month, according to Dr Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Haddad, the Grand Mufti of Dubai and head of the Fatwa Department.
Depending on when Eid Al Adha falls, the day before will be a paid public holiday for the private and public sector, the Ministry of Labour had said earlier this month.
A ministry spokesman said if Eid Al Adha fell on Friday, October 26, it would mean the day before will be an official public holiday. How long the public holiday will continue, it is not yet announced.
Waqfat, also known as waqfat Arafat, is the same day Hajj pilgrims go to stand on the mountain of Arafat – the most important part of the Hajj.
Official announcement by the Ministry will be released closer to the date.
