Sharjah Museums celebrate UAE’s 41st National Day

The Sharjah Museums Department (SMD) announced a festivities programme dedicated to UAE 41st National Day. The nine – day programme is carried out together with the 41st National Day Committee and includes various series of events aiming at preserving patriotism among people from November, 25 until December, 3.

SMD informed that during the celebrations and until the end of December people will enjoy free entry to all its museums, except for Sharjah Aquarium where entry will be free only throughout the celebrations. Free entry to the Aquarium will be allowed to the Emirates Society for Consumer Protection.

My Heritage, My Identity – the programme features folk dances, traditional songs and a fashion show for children between 4 and 12 years old. Around 70 children from the UAE, other GCC countries, Iraq, Yemen, Russia, Turkey, India, Syria, Sudan, Egypt, Morocco and Palestine will show their national costumes in the fashion show.

Another event will be the traditional Emirati wedding demonstration featuring bridal preparations and traditional folk songs and dances. This will be held at the outdoor area behind the Sharjah Maritime Museum and Sharjah Aquarium.

The Sharjah Archeology Museum – different events and activities including army band and workshops for adults will take place at the The Sharjah Archeology Museum.

The traditional band Madima and workshops for kids and adults can be also seen at the Al Mahatta Museum on Monday, 26 november.

On November, 27 a series of events will be seen at the The Sharjah Calligraphy Museum and Sharjah Heritage Museum. Some of the events are: different cultural contests and workshops for children, military band event.

The Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization will host events and activities for individuals with special needs on November, 28, as well as an Arabic calligraphy classes and bazaar and bakeries.

November, 29 – you can visit exhibitions at the Bait Sheikh Saeed bin Hamad Al Qasimi – Emirati paintings, personal collection items, family products exhibit, and an exhibition of Arabic coffee and desserts. There will be also workshops and traditional food, Henna preparation display and many others.

The programme until December, 2 will be basically the same at all museums.

On December 2 SMD, the Sharjah Maritime Museum, and Sharjah Aquarium will introduce for fourth consecutive year the maritime parade, which is expected to gather thousands of people.
