Dubai to host Travellers Festival 2012

the-palace-the-old-town-and-the-address-downtown-burj-dubaiUnder the patronage of H.H Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Travellers Emirates has organized the Travellers Festival 2012 in cooperation and coordination with Department Of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, which is considered the first of its kind in the Arab world and the Middle East region.

The Festival aims at the convergence of travellers from around the world who share distinct experiences and unique adventures in a variety of excursions, in addition to experiencing dangerous adventures such as climbing mountains peaks and exploring the two Poles.

A press conference was held yesterday, December 25th 2012 at the Heritage Village in Al Shindagha area of Dubai, to announce the launch of the festival. The conference was conducted in a hall prepared in accordance with the Arab heritage and traditions. The participants and audience were greeted according to the traditions and customs of Arab hospitality by Mr. Anwar Al Hanai, (the Director of Heritage Village and the Council of Umm Al Sheef) and Mr. Khalifa Al Falasi, (the president of sporting and institutional events in the Department). Post the conference, the audience took a quick tour of the Heritage Village.

Mr. Awad Bin Mejren, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Traveller’s Festival 2012 said “The Festival aims to honour the travellers who have achieved success and contributed significantly in setting records in various kinds of traditional sports, especially towards those who were not honoured in a way befitting their achievements”

In addition to the above, the festival aims to enrich visitors with comprehensive, diversified and unique information acquired by the Travellers while they were roaming across the world to be put up, circulated and discussed by organizing seminars and lectures that will be one of the most important events of the Festival.

Mr. Awad added “It is scheduled to that some travellers participating in the Festival will provide a brief overview of their journeys and adventures and what they have achieved of successes and acquired of knowledge and information while they were resting and traveling, including but not limited to: the first Arab woman to climb Mount Everest, the first local man to climb mount Everest twice consecutively, the first family to spend 28 years travelling around the world with cars, in which they drove six hundred and sixty five thousand kilometres and the first Arab sailing around the world via a sailing boat. Red Crescent in Dubai is also taking part in this (humanitarian trips), in addition to many Emirati, Arab, and foreign travellers”.

Mr. Hamad Mohammad Bin Mejrin, the Executive Director of Business Tourism in the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing in Dubai said: “We are pleased with the cooperation we have received from the Organizing Committee of the Traveller’s Festival 2012, as such events will place Dubai on the global map as a distinctive tourist destination, not just at the regional level, but at a global level. Dubai is now able to offer a unique diversity which is sought after on an international platform.
