Black & Bright, Long-Sleeved & Strapless Dresses
Apart from a prestigious film awards, star-studded show and a spectacular dinner, the Golden Globe Awards are also a Hollywood runway. The Golden Globes red carpet is where celebrities get to show off million-dollar looks and pose for pictures in front of international cameras. This year was no exception. Stars’ outfits again enjoyed a huge media attention. Fashion experts were quick to point out the Golden Globes 2013 fashion trends. Let’s take a look at them now.
Black Dresses
This was the most obvious trend at the red carpet this year. However, that choice of colour is a bit surprising. Usually, the Golden Globe Awards are where celebrities show up in bright and light shades. Nevertheless, the black gowns were certainly not a bad red-carpet look. They gave stars a very classy appearance. Most of the black dresses seen at the Golden Globes were both sophisticated and sleek. Among those who wore black was Kate Hudson. The actress looked amazing in her gold-embroidered black Alexander McQueen. Desperate Housewife Eva Longoria looked sexy in a black lace gown by Emilio Pucci. Other stars who rocked the black look were Nicole Kidman, Katharine McPhee, Helen Mirren and Amy Poehler. However, Salma Hayek managed to cast a shade over all ladies in black. Hayek showed off her Latin curves in a strapless Gucci Premiere dress.
Strapless Gowns
Salma Hayek was not the only celebrity in a strapless dress. Megan Fox followed Hayek’s example. The Transformers star had put on a Dolce & Gabbana dress. A nice accessory to her look was Fox’s husband Brian Austin Green. Jessica Alba managed to impress with her choice of outfit. The actress took the red carpet in an orange strapless gown by Christian Dior.
Long-Sleeved Gowns
Some Hollywood celebrities decided to be more practical and to dress more appropriately for the cold weather outside. For that purpose, they wore lovely long-sleeved dresses which were as sexy as the strapless gowns. Naomi Watts looked stunning in Zac Posen and Helen Mirren once again wore a classy gown this time designed by Badgley Mischka. Jennifer Lopez, on the other hand, left the class home. The actress-singer showed up in an ivory-hued long-sleeved gown that revealed more than enough.
Bright Colours
This is not a new Golden Globes trend. Still, we are going to say a few words about it. The right bright colours can give any star a fresh red-carpet look. At the 2013 Golden Globe awards, celebrities who were seen to wear outfits in brighter tones were Jennifer Lawrence, Zooey Deschanel, Alyssa Milano, Claire Danes and many more. Although gossip magazines try to destroy Jennifer Lawrence’s image of a beauty by showing various out-and-about photos of the actress, Lawrence was definitely one of the evening’s head-turners. The Hunger Games star stole the show with her red Raf Simons gown and smoky eyes.
Other Fashion Trends
At the 2013 Golden Globe awards, photographers caught a few more mini-trends that deserve a mention. A number of Hollywood ladies appeared in sequins and sparkles. Among them were Anne Hathaway who wore a gown by Channel and Helen Hunt.
Dresses in various shades of blue were also something popular at the event. The blue ladies included Rosario Dawson, Nicole Richie, legend Sally Field and rising talent Jessica Chastain.
There were some celebrities who were bold and brave enough to put on their prints. The most noticeable of them were Lucy Liu in a Carolina Herrera Dress and Halle Berry.
