The 2013 haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris is almost over. One of the designers who took the runway today was Elie Saab. Although Saab did not offer anything new and original, critics and fashionistas were again in awe of his couture collection for Spring 2013.
Theme
For his collection, the Lebanese designer had picked the theme “an ode to delicateness”. He successfully recreated it using delicate fabrics like nearly transparent lace, tulle, silk, chiffon and crepe. The colours of the outfits were also quite light and delicate – light blue and ivory. However, towards the end of the show, the designs started to change adding more fuchsia and even black nuances.
Well-Known Trademarks
Elie Saab’s collection was filled with some of the designer’s signature visions and ideas. As always, Saab managed to create very feminine dresses and silhouettes. The gowns seen at his show were fitted and high-waist. Saab offered a lot of slim dresses with sheer thighs and shoulders. Also, there were some heavy appliques going on – from embroideries and beadings to head-to-toe embellishments.
Gowns
The majority of dresses in Elie Saab’s couture collection were long and rather swishing. As a result, models slipped here and there all through the show. Nevertheless, there were also midi-length dresses, as well as bustier constructions, shoulder details and capes.
Decorations
As we mentioned earlier, the dresses in Saab’s collection presented in Paris included lots of decorations and little details. Some of the gowns were heavily decorated with crystals, white pearls and paillettes. In that way, Elie Saab reminded of his signature red carpet style.
Other Collections
Gaultier also showed off his collection today. Both his show and the outfits presented on it had an Indian vibe. Also, the designer surprised the audience when four little girls appeared underneath one of the dresses in the collection.
Yesterday, Armani and Chanel had the chance to introduce their Spring collections. Armani impressed with cropped trousers that were bell-sleeved. Geometry was a common sight at the Armani show. It was mainly seen on collarless jackets. Other things that were highlighted in the collection were full-length gowns and oversized jewelry.
At the Chanel show, Karl Lagerfeld had created a true winter wonderland. The scenery resembled a forest and the models – forest nymphs. The only thing disappointing thing at Chanel’s show was singer Rita Ora’s outfit.
