American education is one of the priciest on the globe. Many parents in the country have a hard time paying for the scholing of their children. They save money for years and often they are forced to take loans. The situation is even more complicated for international students. That is because, in most of the cases, their tuition fees are higher. Furthermore, students coming from outside the U.S. are required to pay additional fees for documentation and insurances. The biggest of them is the health insurance of the student which can sometimes be equal of one semester fee or higher. Also, late tuition payments are punished with a fee of $500 allowing you no space to breathe.
U.S. Universities
Higher education in the U.S. is always paid. Tuition taxes for undergraduates and graduates differ. Bachelor students need to pay between $6,000 and $31,000 per year. In comparison, those who are studying for a Master’s degree spend between $26,000 up to about $60,000. However, as we already mentioned, these fees are often higher for international students.
Expensive
The most expensive university in America is said to be the Sarah Lawrence College in New York. There, the annual tuition tax for international students is $45,900. However, with all the extra fees it reaches a total of nearly $59,000.
A little less pricey is the American University in Washington, DC. The undergraduates’ fee for one year is $57,039 on the average. Interestingly, a Master’s degree there will cost you about $36,000 per year (health insurance not included).
One of the most famous universities in the country is Yale. If you are not from the U.S., but you want to study there you will have to spend about $40,000 on one annual tuition fee. Again, the price doesn’t include the extra taxes for international students.
Affordable
But don’t assume that all U.S. universities are that expensive. There are many others that can give you a high-quality education on a more acceptable price.
Among them are The Florida A&M University and Roosevelt University in Chicago. The Florida A&M University is known as one of the cheapest, yet very popular higher education institutions in the country. There, international students will need to pay a little over $20,000 for one year.
The Roosevelt University is also quite affordable. There, students coming from abroad will spend exactly $39,432 (AED145,000). The sum includes everything from tuition, housing, insurance, campus fees and even meals.
High Schools
There are two main types of high schools in the States – public and private. Public schools are free and do not charge any tuition fees. Private schools, on the other hand, will tax you often quite heavily. The lowest tuition fees for private high school in the country are about $8,000. Also, usually Catholic boarding schools are the most affordable ones. However, that is of no use if your child is not a Catholic.
Expensive
The most expensive private high schools in the U.S. are those in New York. Therefore, it is not surprising that the priciest one situated namely there. That is the Riverside Country School in Bronx. The annual tuition tax there for non-U.S. students is nearly $45,000. It is $5,000 less for students who are citizens of the country. The school has excellent material base and facilities like a wrestling room, a fencing room and a 25-yard swimming pool.
The Branson School in Ross, California is not much behind it when it comes to tuition fees. International students who wish to be educated there are required to pay an annual tax of a little over $37,000.
Affordable
Only $20,000 is the fee per year in Dawson School in Las Vegas, Nevada. In addition, students can apply for a number of financial aid programs that can really help them out.
The Newman University in Boston, Massachusetts is a bit pricier than that. International students there pay a tuition fee of $28,000 for one year. In comparison, U.S. students spend $10,000 less on that.
If you want to enroll in an American high school or university, you should bear in mind that not all of them accept international students. However, the good news is that cheaper high schools in the country often offer financial aid programs. Also, most U.S. universities grant great scholarships that can cover a big part of your tuition fees.
