The Children’s City of Dubai Municipality in collaboration with Robotrust conducts a special Robotic Training Program for school students aimed at providing the most relevant education and training for the new generation in order to prepare them to cope with the requirements of advanced technology in the future.
The purpose of this course is to introduce students in different levels and standards to basics of modeling, design, planning and control of robot systems. In essence, the material treated in this course is a brief survey of relevant results from geometry, kinematics, statics, dynamics and control. The course is presented in a standard format of lectures, readings and problem sets.
This was announced by Naila Rashid Humaid AL Mansoory, Head of Children’s City through a press release yesterday.
Naila said Robotrust, a subsidiary of infoTrust, offers the innovating Robotics program which will teach students how to design and program Robots in a simple, comprehensive and practical manner. By building and programming robots, students explore fundamentals of science, engineering, technology and mathematics (STEM).
‘Hands-on projects, team activities and competitions are used to provide a fun filled educational environment in this course. The program also helps to enhance their creative skills, problem solving ability, logical and analytical thinking and collaborative skills. It provides experiential learning,’ she said.
‘Robotics programs give students an opportunity to get acquainted with technology that is poised to bring about radical changes in many disciplines. Robotics is one of the fastest growing fields, having infiltrated the lives of mankind in every vertical, ranging from entertainment, manufacturing to weapon system development and deployment. The multi-disciplinary nature of robotics involving mechanical, electrical, electronic and programming make a very robust choice for professionals from a wide range of expertise, Robotics provides a convenient platform to the students for exploring such qualities. Robotics allows young minds to develop invaluable skills such as problem-solving, logical reasoning, critical thinking and creativity – skills that are highly desirable for success in the future,’ an official of Robotrust said.
The Future of Robotics
‘The population of robots is growing rapidly. This growth is lead by Japan that has almost twice as many robots as the USA. All estimates suggest that robots will play an ever-increasing role in modern society. They will continue to be used in tasks where danger, repetition, cost, and precision prevents humans from performing,’ he said.
BENEFITS:
‘The program will definitely make Math and Science come to life of kids thereby making it interesting. It will also build logical and analytical thinking, develop collaboration skills and problem solving skills, ‘ he added.
Shaikh Abdullah Raesi ,Marketing and Media Officer at Children’s City said the Children’s City will conduct regular classes during/after school hours for classes 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th. There will be two consecutive periods per week for each class. Each period shall have theory and practical sessions with all necessary instruments required for conducting Robotics practical & theory classes.
‘Each student will be assigned a group project at the end of each course and will be assessed on the project. InfoTrust Singapore Pte Ltd. shall award the certificate of merit to all the students,’ she said.
Fees per student is AED 375 for 10 hours Robotic Program, AED 700 for 20 hours Robotic Program and AED 50 for online Registration. All regular students must register online on www.robotrust.com.sg to get certificate from Singapore.
