The 55th Annual Grammy Awards are right around the corner and both celebrities and music fans can’t wait to find out who will take home the coveted gilded gramophone. Well, what are your predictions, who will dominate Grammys 2013?

Last year’s Grammy Awards were totally dominated by British singer Adele whose 21 took six awards. According to many reporters, this year there are a lot of strong candidates, but no real front-runner. Fun., Jay-Z, Mumford & Sons, Frank Ocean and Kanye West are currently topping the nominations with six each. Both Black Keys and Miguel are nominated in five categories. The ladies this year are not doing so well – Kelly Clarkson has four nominations, Taylor Swift scored three, and the newcomer Carly Rae Jepsen received two.

So what will we see this Sunday? When we are looking at the list of nominees we can see that there are plenty of new bands and artists that seemed to appear out of absolute anonymity and become runners for the most prestigious music awards. The number of nominations claimed by artists or bands who call themselves independent or alternative has strikingly rose – Gotye, The Black Keys, fun., Mumford & Sons and The Lumineers.

Just a day away from the Grammys our predictions look like this:

Record of the Year

Although it doesn’t feel like a pop song, nobody will be surprised at all if We Are Young by fun., featuring Janelle Monae wins the prize because it’s catchy and well-crafted. Frank Ocean’s Thinkin Bout You is just not mainstream enough, Taylor Swift’s We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together is too light, too pop, Lonely Boy by The Black Keys didn’t make it to Top 20 in the US, so we think Gotye’s massive smash hit Somebody That I Used To Know will take the Grammy. After all, this song spent eight weeks topping nearly every chart in the world in early 2012.

Album of the Year

Here we have artists so different from one another, that it’s really hard to say who will win. In fact, the Album of the Year Award is very prestigious, so Frank Ocean’s Channel Orange seems most suitable here.

Best New Artist

The battle here is between fun. and Frank Ocean – fun. have the backing from charts while Frank Ocean has the support of critics. Although the talent of Frank is undoubted and many say he is this generation’s Prince, fun. will most probably charm the voters. With their version of indie pop, the New York trio achieved worldwide fame in a blink of an eye!
