Google finally shed some light on its eagerly awaited smart glasses. The search engine giant is preparing for the launch of its new product slowly, but steadily by teasing consumers with small bits of information on this unseen innovation. The company just shared a video showing Google Glass UI in different real-life situation. Among them are also many extreme activities like plane controlling or plane jumping.
Now Google is getting ready to send out smart glasses units to consumers for the first time. However, if you want to be among them, you will need to apply in advance. But this does not mean that you are going to get the Google glasses for free. You will still be required to pay $1,500 for the Glass Explorer Edition.
The good news is that applying is pretty easy. Consumers only need to share on Google+ or on Twitter how they plan to use the new device of the company. They should do that in 50 words at top and add the hashtag #ifihadglass. Applicants are allowed to upload videos and photos to illustrate their words or to impress the judges. The competition will continue until February 27 (Wednesday). However, it is not yet clear how many Glass units will be sent out. One thing is for sure, the participants will be many.
Interestingly, the glasses shown in the commercial are much simpler than those which were first seen in the first ad video. The pop-up and video notifications are replaced by one pane in the top right side of the glasses. There users can view pretty much all the activity and features supported by Glass UI like notifications and searches.
Google Inc. still hasn’t shared the date when its smart glasses will be released on the mass market. Instead, the giant teases consumers and awards its most loyal fans with a few units every now and then. That could mean that the company is still working on Google Glass UI and it is just testing it.
