The Oscars will be televised in only two days from now and we will soon find out who the winners in the top categories are this year. But while we wait for Sunday evening, we can make a few picks and hope that they are hits and not misses.

Best Picture – Argo

At first Ben Affleck’s film was not considered to be among the favourites for the Best Picture Oscar Awards. Instead, people used to point out Zero Dark Thirty as the winner. However, after Argo received some of the most prestigious movie awards outside the Oscars and everyone started seeing the film’s charm.

Best Director – Steven Spielberg (Lincoln)

The true winner in this category is Ben Affleck. Unfortunately, the Academy did not include him in the nominees for Best Director. So the award will go to the next best thing. A number of critics believe that the winner will be Ang Lee for his work on Life of Pi. But, if we have to judge by the director’s lack of success at previous movie awards, we predict that Spielberg will take this Oscar home.

Best Actor – Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln)

Daniel Day-Lewis already has a huge experience as a winner in this category. The Academy loves him, the critics love him, the fans love him… Simply said, he will win.

Best Actress – Jennifer Lawrence (Silver Linings Playbook) vs. Emmanuelle Riva (Amour)

The battle here will be big! Jennifer Lawrence is Hollywood’s new favourite, but was her performance in Silver Linings Playbook strong enough? Most film experts say yes. However, we believe that she will be seriously challenged by Emmanuelle Riva.

Best Supporting Actor – Robert De Niro (Silver Linings Playbook)

Things are also hazy in the category Best Supporting Actor. The battle is between Robert De Niro (Silver Linings Playbook) and Christopher Waltz (Django Unchained). However, we point De Niro will most likely be the winner. In the past, he has won two Oscar Awards. But his softer characters have always been less appreciated. So Waltz could steal him the Oscar. The Django Unchained actor already got a Golden Globe and a BAFTA on his mantelpiece for his performance in Quentin Tarantino’s film.

No mystery here! Anne Hathaway will most definitely be announced as the Best Supporting Actress for 2013. She successfully followed the recipe for Oscar winning. First, Hathaway starred in a movie side by side to Meryl Streep. Second, she lost weight and she cut her hair for the film (body change is always a winner at the Oscars). Third, she showed that she can sing and act at the same time. Last but not least, she proved that she has got a big talent.

Best Foreign Film – Amour

It will be a huge surprise if this production loses. Although a foreign film, Amour was nominated in some of the most prestigious categories, including Best Actress, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress and even Best Picture.

Best Song – “Skyfall” (Skyfall)

This is a killing combo – James Bond’s 50th anniversary and Adele’s voice. The song not only became a massive radio hit, but it also received a number of movie and film awards among which were a Golden Globe Award and a Brit Award.
