Samsung is famous for its Android smart mobile phones. The Galaxy S series are among the top-sellers of the last few years. In addition, its last flagship smartphone S3 was voted the best mobile devices on today’s tech market. Moreover, the device successfully competes with Apple’s iPhone.
S4 Event
A few days ago, Samsung officially announced that it will unveil its newest product, Galaxy S4, during a special event. Although there is still nothing clear about the device’s specs, the South Korean company continues to tease about its upcoming Galaxy event called Samsung Unpacked 2013, Episode 1.
Samsung took Twitter to invite consumers to go to New York’s Times Square on March 14 to witness the unveiling of S4 live. However, there is no information about how that is going to happen. Probably, people will watch the event on one of the large screens on Times Square.
Other Products
With all the fuss and work around Galaxy S4, one would assume that Samsung will focus only on this product and take it slow for a while. However, the company is doing the exact opposite of that.
The South Korean manufacturer showed off a lot of new products at the 2013 World Mobile Congress which took place this week. Among them was a tablet, an operating system, a theatre media hub and not one, but four different smartphones.
New Galaxy Tablet
First, Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Note 8 tablet. The device has an 8” screen which makes it a good competition to Apple’s iPad Mini which has a 7.9” display. The tablet impresses with its comfortable and smooth design. Also, Note 8 rocks a 5MP rear camera, as well as a front-faced one. Unlike Note 2, this Samsung tablet computer comes with an S-Pen and a special slot for it. The device runs on an Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system and a 1.6GHz quad-core A9 processor. The device will be offered in two models – 16GB or a 32GB one.
Smartphone Attack
Samsung impressed with the large number of smartphone devices it had prepared for WMC. The company introduced Galaxy Young, Galaxy Fame, Galaxy Duo and Galaxy Express.
Young and Fame are pretty similar in terms of specifications and design. The two devices have Android 4.1.2 and 1,300mAh batteries. In addition, both Young and Fame have a rather low resolution of 480×380. However, it should be reminded that these handsets are budget-friendly and not flagship models of the company. There are also few differences between the smartphones. For example, Galaxy Young has a modest 3MP camera, while Fame rock s 5 MP one. Also, Fame has a silver band on its sides.
Samsun’s Galaxy Duo and Galaxy Express resemble low-cost versions of S3. Express has a 4.5” AMOLED Plus screen. Also, it supports 4G LTE and it runs on a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. Galaxy Duo, on the other hand, was created for people who frequently need to two SIM cards.
Operating System
The South Korean company also unveiled its long-anticipated OS called Tizen in Barcelona. However, do not assume that S4 will run on it since it was developed only for affordable devices. The operating system is much simpler and lighter than Android which makes it perfect for less powerful mobile gadgets.
Theatre Media Hub
Apart from mobile devices, Samsung also unveiled a theatre media hub called HomeSync. The device has the massive 1TB memory capacity and it operates on Android. It is able to stream games, videos and various other media. That happens when users connect their Galaxy smartphones to their home TV screens via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
Despite that fact that Galaxy S4 promises to be very popular on the market, Samsung is obviously not planning to rely only on it.
