Dubai is the epicenter of new, huge developments and super projects where the traditional and modern exist in perfect harmony. The region’s latest attraction is called the Dubai Miracle Garden. As its name suggests, this is the most beautiful, and currently, the largest natural flower garden in the world.
Who would have thought that the largest flower garden in the world can be found in the desert? Once again, Dubai showed that anything is possible with the launching of the Dubai Miracle Garden project, which is located on an area of 72,000 square meters and has over 45 million flowers. The grand opening was on Valentine’s Day, 14 February, 2013, but there will be a second phase of the project which will introduce restaurants, souvenirs shops, retail stores, plant nurseries, and a multi-store car park. The garden is located near Arabia Ranches Bridge, in Dubailand which already offers a wide range of attractions and entertainments to both Dubai residents and first-time visitors.
The magical landscape of the Dubai Miracle Garden contains more than 45 million flowers, some of which has never been planted before in the Gulf region. There are a total of 4 km pathways and 1 km flower wall that is bidding for a Guinness Record. The flowers are combined in various designs, topiary displays of hearts, arches, stars, pyramids, and many other forms and shapes. Some of the most interesting things to see are the world’s biggest flower clock and a huge pyramid of flowers with a base area of 144m and a height of 10m. And of course, the amazing display of flower designer cars, flower towers and springs, as well as stunning water fountains.
The development of the garden has been made possible, according to garden’s landscaping company, Akar, through judicious re-use of waste water and drip irrigation. It is indeed, a miracle of architecture, designing and gardening which provides unique beauty and fragrance in the middle of the desert. It is part of the Emirate plan for increasing the number of green areas and is expected to bring at least one million tourists annually. Al Ittihad Park was opened on Palm Jumeirah on UAE National Day, and another project was announced by Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum – Mohammed Bin Rashid City. The multi-billion project is said to be built by Dubai Holding and Emaar Properties and will include a green area, three times as bigger as Hyde Park in London.
If you plan a travel to Dubai, or live there, make sure this is the first stop in your schedule, although we doubt you could see the whole garden only for a day. Maybe later you will visit Dubai’s other attractions – the tallest building in the world, the tallest hotel in the world, the largest shopping mall in the world, or the unique indoor Ski Dubai which has real snow all year round.
