More and more Samsung Galaxy S4 rumours emerge on the web. As the launch of the hotly anticipated gets closer, a constant new information is leaked and discussed at large. The latest details on Samsung’s upcoming smartphone claim that S4 will feature an innovative display technology and less touch commands.
New Green Screen Technology
The news was first published by SamMobile. According to the website, the new Galaxy S phone will again rock Samsung’s trademark – AMOLED screen. However, the device’s display will use a completely different technology that will be based on phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes. The name of this new-gen OLED screen will be PHOLED. It is reported that it will rely not on fluorescent light, but on phosphorescence. As a result, the smartphone will use less battery energy. Moreover, SamMobile states that Galaxy S4’s new display will reduce its power consumption with the amazing 25%. For now, PHOLED screens support spectrums like green, red and blue. S4 is said to use a green-yellow one.
Less Touching and Tapping
The other big news around Samsung’s next flagship smartphone is a floating touch technology. These S4 details were again reported by SamMobile. The floating touch feature will require less touching swiping and tapping on the device’s screen. That is because this technology will enable users to operate on the phone simply by hovering their fingers over the display.
If this function sounds too futuristic to you, we will remind you that Samsung has already used a feature that reminded quite a lot of this one. It was seen in Galaxy Note 2 with which users could perform actions by hovering with their S Pen over the display. However, that was only possible with the Air View function. In addition, Sony also tried out the floating touch feature with its device Xperia Sola. In other words, the floating touch technology is not new on the market. However, it is expected that, with Galaxy S4, Samsung will take it to another level and allow consumers to use it on a broader level and not only with a specific app, mode or function.
It seems that Samsung is aiming at eliminating all touch commands. That is obvious not only by the touch floating function, but also by the Eye Scroll features which are also rumoured to be included in the device. As we have already informed you, this function will follow user’s eyes movements and scroll automatically.
Two Prototypes
Samsung insiders also confirmed a few other Galaxy S4 specs. It is reported that the company’s next smartphone will run on Android 4.2.1. However, S4 owners will have the chance to upgrade to the upcoming version of the Android operating system – 4.2.2. Another piece of information that was reported by insider sources is that Samsung’s latest smart device will have a new camera function called Samsung Orb. Similar to some features found in LG Optimus G Pro and Android 4.2, Samsung Orb will be able to make 360-degree pictures.
However, the most intriguing thing about Galaxy S4 is that Samsung is said to have prepared two different prototypes of the device. That is why sources and leaks about the smartphone are unanimous on some of its specs. One of the prototypes is said to run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 and to have a Super LCD 3 screen. The other is reported to be powered by Exynos Octa and to be the one with the PHOLED display. Unfortunately, it is still unknown which of these prototypes will be shown on March 14.
