Samsung will introduce its long-anticipated smartphone Galaxy S4 in about 48 hours. In the past few weeks, the company’s newest products attracted tremendous attention from consumers, tech experts and apparently the competition.
It seems Apple noticed all the S4 excitement too and got a little jealous. The giant quickly came up with two new TV commercials that show off some different iPhone features and apps. In addition, the company dug out some photos from its archives and gave out some details from the iPhone kitchen.
New iPhone Commercials
The TV ads which Apple released quite recently are called “Discover” and “Brilliant.” They include some fast-paced music, lots of seemingly random words and iPhone applications and features. In the “Brilliant” commercial, Apple introduces us to applications like the Crave recipe and Cards. Also, in the video we see the company’s Passbook app which shows a loyalty card from Starbucks. There is also an application that controls the hue of your home lighting and a Rubik’s Cube game. Another new iPhone app showcased in the commercial video is the MyScript Calculator that is capable of reading mathematical equations written in hand.
The second TV ad, “Discover,” features an interactive textbook and a guitar tuning application. It also shows some Apple Maps functions. In addition, the commercial includes a number of applications for finding locations, restaurants and music.
However, the new TV ads were not accepted well by everyone. A few bloggers expressed their negative opinions of the commercials. According to some of them, the videos are unpleasant to watch and aggressive due to the constant shouting which is heard in them. They claim that the new Apple commercials are not following Steve Job’s idea – namely, to show the products in a more simple and straightforward way.
Pre-iPhone Age
Apple made another attempt to steal the stoplights from Samsung. Photos of the early iPhone prototype were leaked on the web. The pictures were reportedly taken by an ex Apple employee.
The images reveal that the iPhone was initially an iPad. Apparently, the giant had the tablet idea before the smartphone one. In fact, at Steve Jobs himself revealed that a few years ago at a conference. Jobs said that Apple was first working on a tablet PC for which it even developed a prototype version. However, the giant gave up the idea for a while since it thought that the market was not ready for this product. That is why they focused on a smartphone.
Even though Apple is doing its best to change the hot tech topic in the media, Samsung’s Galaxy S4 campaign is working on full speed. If Apple want to grab the consumers’ attention it should give the world something new and not to rely on apps and old device prototypes.
