Today Samsung will introduce its newest smartphone Galaxy S4 at a big event in New York. It is expected that the unveiling will attract the attention of many consumers and Android fans. Although Samsung’s rivals remained mainly silent on the matter, a reaction was expected. The first move was made by Apple few days ago and today it was quickly followed by LG.
Yesterday, Phil Schiller, Apple’s marketing chief, bashed on Android operating systems, which Samsung used in its devices. Citing the company’s internal research data, Schiller told Reuters that Android users are forced to rely on old and outdated versions of the OS. In addition, he said that even Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphone may run on Android. According to Apple’s marketing chief, about 16% of all Android users have devices with the newest edition of Google’s OS. Schiller also cited other statistics which pointed that over 50% of iOS users were on the newest version of Apple’s operating system. Also, he stated that the giant’s researches showed that users who switch from Android to iOS are more common than those who migrate from in the opposite direction.
Shortly after that LG made a big announcement. The company unveiled innovative eye recognition software. Devices which have the feature will be able to tell whether the user is looking at the screen or not. Whenever the device’s owner looks away from the display videos will pause and automatically resume when a new eye movement is detected. LG informed that it will include the software it its Optimus G Pro. Why this could be a blow for Samsung? Because the South Korean company’s Galaxy S4 is rumoured to have a similar feature called Eye Scroll.
Talking of rumours, new leaks on Samsung Galaxy S4 have emerged online. This time they offer high-resolution photos of a device that is said to be S4. Nevertheless, the new pics of the device do not reveal anything new. Again they show that the next-gen Galaxy S may has a 4.99” screen with a full HD 1080p resolution. Also, the phone shown on the pictures has a plastic case and Eye Scroll function. In addition, the gadget rocks a 2,600mAh battery and a 2GB of RAM. The alleged Samsung Galaxy S4 has a8-core 1.8GHz processor and, interestingly, a floating touch function that allows the use of hover commands.
So far so good, but we still need to wait a few more hours to see the final version of Samsung’s new Galaxy S4 smartphone.
