After Samsung introduced its Galaxy S4 smartphone, it is time for Apple to take the spotlight again. The rumours around the giant’s updated version of iPhone 5 are not just raining, but pouring nowadays. The latest of them claim that Apple will showcase iPhone 5S in June and then launch it sometime in the third quarter of 2013.

This information partly came from website DigiTimes. The site published a report in which it cites unnamed sources. The insiders inform that the components for the new iPhone will start to ship towards the end of May. That means that Apple’s next smartphone may be ready for the world in the third quarter of the year.

However, contrary to consumers’ expectations and hopes, iPhone 5S is not likely to be an affordable version of iPhone 5. In fact, 5S may include components which are higher-end than those seen in the current model. Among them is believed to be the device’s processor, as well as its camera which is rumoured to have higher megapixels. In terms of design, iPhone 5S is expected to remain almost the same as its predecessor.

Despite that, AppleInsider reports that Apple will release a cheaper smartphone, but that won’t be iPhone 5S. The website says that along with iPhone 5S the company will also introduce another low-cost phone. The budget-friendly device is rumoured to have a fiberglass screen and plastic body. In addition, it may be made of lower-end component. The cheaper iPhone may also be a bit heavier than 5S.

According to different sources cited by Gizmorarti, however, Apple will unveil iPhone 5S not together with a low-cost smartphone, but with the fifth generation of the giant’s iPad tablet. Furthermore, the insiders state that this will happen at an event called “Original Passion, New Ideas” which will take place on June 29th.

But regardless of iPhone 5S’ actual release date, Apple’s upcoming events and product launches are expected to be a trial and a test for the company. That is not only because of the fact that the giant is presently losing its positions on the market, but because of the company’s new chapter in its history. The next iPhone and iPad will be the first big product releases after the death of the company’s co-founder Steve Jobs. The current head of the giant, Tim Cook, will have the tough task to prove his leader and business qualities by surpassing or, at least, repeating the past successes of the company.
