Nokia Steals Apple’s iPhone 5S Momentum with News for 41MP Smartphone

Lately, Apple cannot really enjoy its momentum. At the time the company was said to be working on a smartwatch, Samsung, LG and Microsoft were reported to be doing the same. Now, when Apple was rumoured to be preparing to add a 12MP camera to its next iPhone, Nokia stole the lights with news for a massive 41MP smart mobile phone.

The information that Apple’s iPhone 5S will rock a 12MP snapper came from a few sources. First it was reported by the Vietnamese website Tinhte and then Wonderful Saigon Electronics added more details to the story. According to the rumours, apart from the 12MP rear camera, Apple’s iPhone 5S will also come with a f/2.4 aperture with a sensor for low-light photography. In addition, the company’s next smartphone will use its hardware to process the images and to its software.

This sounds promising but it does not surprise anyone. It is a common practice for mobile phone manufacturers to add a few extra megapixels and improve the screen resolution of their next product.

Nokia, on the other hand, may not be aware of that since it is now reported that it is preparing a smartphone with a camera that is said to support 41MP. The manufacturer already has a device with such massive resolution, but it runs on Symbian which is no longer supported and updated by the company.

The news for the 41MP phone was reported by My Nokia Blog which learnt them from an anonymous source. The website claims that Nokia will incorporate the innovative PureView technology in its upcoming flagship device Eos. The site also reveals that the company’s next smartphone will run on a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor.

Apparently, Nokia has found a way to move the 808 PureView technology on another mobile operating system. The question is which one? For now, predictions lead to Microsoft’s Windows Phone. Despite that, not long ago, Nokia expressed it fears that its devices have become too dependent on the OS.

How much of that is true, we can only guess. However, one thing is certain – Apple’s momentum was stolen again.
