Dubai Financial Market inaugurates Annual Stock Game

Dubai Financial Market (DFM) inaugurated its Annual Stock Game with participation of 2,400 students from schools and universities in the UAE and region.

The Stock Game, which runs until May 6th 2013, attracted students from 36 educational institutions, including 22 university and 10 schools, 9 of them taking part for the first time including Qatar University. Mohammad Bin Fahd University from Saudi Arabia is also amongst the participating universities from outside the UAE.

The previous 10 rounds of the competition have attracted 18,744 of participants representing 40 educational institutions. Each contestant will receive one million Dirham to virtually buy and sell shares listed on DFM through its website, based on live prices during trading hours.

Jamal Ibrahim Al Khadhar, Senior Vice President, Head of Human Resources and Strategic Planning Division, DFM said: “We are delighted to see the DFM Stock Game gains momentum each year. Undoubtedly, the participation of new educational institutions reinforces the competition’s ability to outreach a wider base within the educational community as this initiative is aimed to spread investment culture amongst the younger generation and develop their abilities.”

The winner of the game will be the student who has the most virtual money. The winners will receive a cash prizes.
