Forbes released its annual list of the The World’s 100 Most Powerful Celebrities
After being a close runner-up for two years, distinguished TV star Oprah Winfrey reclaimed the number one spot on the annual Forbes Most Powerful Celebrities list. At number forty-one comes the most powerful actress, Angelina Jolie, and last year’s winner, Justin Bieber has the best social networking power.
This year, six of the first ten positions are claimed by female TV superstars and singers. Number one at Top 100, Oprah Winfrey leads the prestigious list for the fifth time. Although her net profit of $77 million wasn’t the highest on the list, she managed to score relatively high in all metrics – press mentions, Internet popularity, social media status, and all these brought her the first place. This is in fact, what this Forbes list measures – fame in almost all its manifestations – your money, how often people and media talk about you, and how much people love you. This year, Forbes decided to add a new assessment factor – a complex marketability score which constitutes of 46 different attributes. Among all 100 celebrities, Will Smith, Jennifer Aniston and Sandra Bullock are the most marketable ones.
No.1 in 2012, Justin Bieber has the highest social rank of 100 which makes him the most popular person on the Internet, particularly social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Google. Right after him, we can see Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry at number 4. And N.1 in 2011, Lady Gaga has again one of the best performances on the list – she is the second most powerful, she is the third most successful social networker, and after Rihanna, she has the most press mentions. One of the big surprises on the list, (or is it?) is Madonna who was off the ranking for two years, but is now back at the fifth spot as the top earner with $125 million.
Forbes included a total of 35 women in the 2013 Top 100 Most Powerful Celebrities List which is roughly the same as last year. Some of the newcomers are gold medalist Husain Bolt, the author of The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins, the electronic music DJ and producer David Guetta, How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris, Hugh Jackman, Victoria’s Secret angel Miranda Kerr and others.
