Kindle-manufacturer (Check the 4th of July price) and online retailer, Amazon.com, announced that it is opening an online store for fan fiction works. It is called Kindle Worlds Store and it is a self-service submission platform. The new store focuses on both readers and writers.

Amazon’s Kindle Worlds Store will enable every writer to make his or her work more accessible to readers. Authors will have the chance to publish stories which were inspired by popular films, TV series, music, games or books. Also, they will have the opportunity to make a royalty of up to 35%. In most of the cases, the works published via Kindle Worlds will be priced between $0.99 and $3.99.

The only thing that writers need to do in order to publish their work on Kindle Worlds is to select one of the already registered “worlds” on the store and sign in with their Amazon account. After that, storytellers can submit their work and wait for it to be approved.

Readers, on the other hand, will be able to purchase stories on their favourite worlds and possibly discover a new side to them.

The licensed worlds on the store include Pretty Little Liars, The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, Foreworld Saga, Silo Saga, Bloodshot, Shadowman, X-O Manowar and many others.

According to the Silo Saga World Licensor Hugh Howey, Amazon’s Kindle Worlds Store has the power to increase the number of writers similar to how Kindle successfully increased readership.

Trish Milburn, a writer in The Vampire Diaries, believes that now authors will finally get the chance to turn from fans into writers. They will have the power to shape their favoirite shows and pose the question ‘What if?’

From Amazon, executives state that the Kindle Worlds Store was created with both readers and writers in mind. The company also encourages the two sides to send their feedback. The retailer explains that in this way it will learn which segments need an improvement and which do not.

Amazon’s Kindle Worlds Store is now launched and available for writers and readers to try out. Currently, the store offers over 50 commissioned stories. Some of the most popular of them are Stuart Moore’s “X-O Manowar: Noughts and Crosses,” Barbra Annino’s “Pretty Little Liars: Stained,” Aric Davis’ “The Foreworld Saga: The Qian,” Tom King’s “Shadowman: Salvation Sally,” as well as “The Vampire Diaries: The Arrival” written by Lauren Barnholdt and Aaron Gorvine.

From Amazon Publishing informed that the company will soon introduce new worlds on its Kindle Worlds Store.
