The new, seventh installment of the already believed to be an iconic Fast & Furious is now in pre-production and scheduled to hit theaters July 11, 2014. What came as a big surprise for Middle Eastern fans is the news that some of the shooting will be in the UAE and a partial casting is set for Dubai.
Film audition website Acting Auditions announced today that casting calls for Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious 7 will be going out in Los Angeles, as well as in several locations across Georgia and Lousiana, U.S. But the website also says that shooting will also be in Tokyo and Dubai, with extras casted “near the locations where filming will take place”. This literally means that actors, acting enthusiasts, and all movie fans should be prepared for a Dubai casting! The news isn’t still confirmed (or denied) by Dubai Studio City, but its Managing Director and Chairman of the Dubai Film and TV Commission, Jamal Al Sharif, said in statement that very soon, there will be three big announcements.
Although most of the details around Fast & Furious 7 are still only rumors, several huge Hollywood names have been confirmed to star in it. Of course, Teen Choice Awards winner Paul Walker returns as Brian O’Conner, while Vin Diesel strikes again as Dominic Toretto. We will also see Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who is now shooting Hercules: The Thracian Wars in his role as Luke Hobbs, and English actor Jason Statham in the protagonist role of Ian Shaw. This time, producer of the movie is Vin Diesel and his production company One Race Productions while the director is the horror-making Australian James Wan (Insidious, The Conjuring). Well, we’ll see next year, but it appears that Dubai-based actors will also join the list.
