The fourth edition of Business Insider’s annual survey World’s Best Business Schools was released today. Unsurprisingly, the list is dominated by institutes from the US and the UK. However, US business schools clearly have the upper hand since they take 8 out of the top 10 positions on the ranking. The list is diversified by France’s Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires (INSEAD), which occupies the 42nd spot on the chart. Let’s take a look at the best ten business schools in the world today.
Harvard University (Cambridge, Mass. US)
Nearly 80% of all the participants in the survey pointed Harvard as the top business school for 2013. Although the university is less picky than number 3 on the chart, Stanford, its tuition taxes are definitely pricey ($91,000). Nevertheless, given that Harvard graduates are one of the most respected in the world, the investment is definitely worth it.
Yale University (New Haven, Conn. US)
Over 60 of the people who took part in the research pointed Yale as best when it came to business majors. Located in New Haven, Connecticut, Yale is one of the most popular universities not only among business schools, bit in general. Its School of Management is also highly appreciated by both graduates and employers, but it could not make it to the top 10.
Stanford University (Palo Alto, Calif. US)
Stanford marks a drop compared to the 2012 research. This, however, does not mean that it attract less students. As a matter of fact, as it was hinted before, Stanford University is one of the most selective on the ranking. Barely 7% of the applicants are admitted.
Columbia University (New York, N.Y. US)
While some fall, others rise. The Columbia University jumped with three positions, landing on number four. The institute is famous for the fact that many of its graduates are widely-recognized public figures. Among them, for example, is billionaire Warren Buffett.
Duke University (Durham, N.C. US) – Duke University has an entire school which is specializing in business – Fuqua School of Business. Compared to the previous entries on the raking this is more accessible due to its tuition taxes which amount to an average of $55,000.
Cornell University (Ithaca, N.Y. US)
As we go down the list, prices become even more affordable. Tuition and fees in the Cornell University are calculated at about $42,000. The university’s Johnson Graduate School of Management offers a great choice of MBA programs, which vary from one year to two.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, Mass. US)
Even though MIT is known mainly as US’s best school in the fields of mathematics, science, engineering and technology, the institute’s Sloan School of Management places it on this ranking. In fact, over the last few years, it has managed to find a place among the best 10 MBA programs in the world. Average tuition taxes amount to $89,000.
Cambridge University (Cambridge, UK)
The first UK entry on the list is the Cambridge University. More than 30% of the survey’s respondents believe that it is the top business school in the world. Judge Business school is where Cambridge students go. The schools holds an interesting record, it has produced the most Nobel Prize winners than all other universities in the world.
Oxford University (Oxford, UK)
If you enroll at Oxford University you will need to pay an average of $67,000. However, you will have the chance to get your MBA degree in just one year. That is actually very typical for UK MBA programs.
Boston University (Boston, Mass. US)
The ranking is completed by the Boston University. Its School of Management registers one of the highest jumps on the list. For only one year it managed to climb with 26 spots. MBA students who study in the Boston University pay about $74,000 in tuition and fees.
The respondents of the survey also shared that the best asset which business schools can provide for their students are skills and knowledge. Over 20% of them believed that this was the network of contacts.
