Katy Perry’s new mega-single “Roar” which was released last Monday is most likely to outsell “Applause” by Lady Gaga and reach 550,000 downloads sold by Sunday, according to Billboard. If this happens, this will be not only biggest sales week of the year for a song, but also Perry’s largest sales week ever.

Katy Perry Roar The two divas didn’t intend to get into such a close competition, but when their singles leaked on the Internet last weekend, everyone started to wonder, who’s coming out on top? If the sales are so strong as expected, this will be the biggest digital-sales week for Katy Perry. Her record is still held by “Firework” which sold 509,000 downloads in its first week, right after Christmas in 2010. Usually, singles are released on Tuesday, but “Roar” came out in Monday, which means it will have full seven days of sells, while Gaga’s “Applause” will have only six. Billboard expects that “Roar” will reach 550,000 while the prospects for Lady Gaga’s new single are not so positive – the number is believed to be around 225,000 downloads by the end of the week.

Sunday came, but the official sales figures by Nielsen SoundScan will be announced this Wednesday, August 21. Until then, fans can still download “Roar” on iTunes from Apple App Store for only $1,29. One Direction’s latest song, “Best Song Ever” from the EP This Is Us, is also available for download for $1,29. Last week, their new tune “Just Can’t Let Her Go” out of their upcoming album leaked online, so we can soon expect an official release. Miley Syrus announced that her new album, “Bangerz” will be released on October 8. It will feature 8 songs, including her latest hit, “We Can not Stop”, as well as collaborations with Pharrell Williams, Future and Dr. Luke. The single “We Can’t Stop” was out for download on June 3, 2013 for $1,29 on Apple Store.
