Two of the most popular and loved by fans superheroes, Superman and Batman will finally team up in the 2015 sequel of “Man of Steel”. And on Thursday, Warner Bros announced Ben Affleck will take on the role of billionaire Bruce Wayne, known better as Batman.
Last month, “Man of Steel” director Zack Snyder revealed at Comic Con in San Diego that he will make the sequel, planned for release in 2015. The big surprise was that co-star of the production will be Batman, but this time not played by Christian Bale, who made clear on several occasions he wouldn’t portray the superhero in the future. This time, in the role of Batman we will see Oscar-winning Ben Affleck, who according to the statement by Warner Bros is “an extraordinary actor”. For Affleck, this won’t be a new genre at all – in 2003 he starred as the blind hero in Marvel Comics’ Daredevil. He is expected to bring a counter-balance to Henry Cavill and his younger Clark Kent. Critics believe that with his talent Affleck will be able to portray Batman in a new, unique way, worth maybe even of a third Oscar award.
The sequel still doesn’t have a title, but it will certainly bring together “Man of Steel”’s stars Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White. The producers will apparently reveal details about the storyline in the future. For now, everyone is wondering whether the superheroes will fight against each other, or they will team up to defend the world from some unknown super-villain. And with all Superman’s friends returning, the logical question is, how many of the key members of Batman’s universe the 2015 will feature?
Affleck who directed and starred in Argo, 2012’s Best Picture Oscar winner, will also play in the upcoming drama “Runner Runner” with Justin Timberlake.
