Amazon announced that it has made some great improvements on its Kindle Paperwhite eBook reader. The company shared that it has added many new features to the device. Moreover, Amazon is confident that it has created the best product in this category.
According to Amazon’s CEO and founder, Jeff Bezos, no other company has invested so much on a reading-oriented product. Also, Bezos added that none of Amazon’s competitors is attempting to push this technology further.
What’s New?
The sixth generation of Kindle is referred to as the all-new Kindle Paperwhite. This title seems to fit the gadget since it is almost entirely changed. Now it offers a faster performance, new touch technology, higher contrast and many other features.
The display of Kindle Paperwhite is based on an innovative technology. As a result, readers will now enjoy better reflectivity and higher contrast. According to Amazon, the latest Kindle has the most advanced e-reader screen. The integrated light is also improved. It does not shine towards the reader’s eyes, but instead, it is directed towards the display.
The navigation features of the all-new Kindle Paperwhite have also received a makeover. The device uses a new touch technology. This means that it is much more responsive and that it detects even the lightest touches. Also, skimming and scanning through the book will no longer mean that you will lose your place. You can go back and forth, whenever you need. After that, you will be redirected to your current reading page.
The performance of the gadget also promises to be better. That is due to the fact that the new-generation Kindle has a 25% faster processor. In addition, the device will make a list of all the words you have searched for. This will allow you to access them easily, as well as to test your knowledge on them. Also, Kindle’s dictionary will be able to redirect you to Wikipedia and X-Ray whenever you need information about a topic or a word.
One of the standout functions of Amazon’s Kindle Paperwhite are the built-in parental controls. Through them, users can encourage their children to read more books. They can select titles for them and follow their progress. In addition, parents will be able to even award them with achievement badges for some extra motivation.
The all-new Kindle will also support Kindle MatchBook. This service will enable readers to buy electronic Kindle editions of the printed books they had purchased from Amazon.com. This will happen on a very affordable price – $2.99 at the most.
Apart from all the new features, Kindle Paperwhite has preserved its trademark characteristics. Its display is said to continue to offer a real-paper reading experience. Also, its battery capacity will spread up to eight weeks of life.
The all-new Kindle Paperwhite will arrive in two versions. The first will support only Wi-Fi, the second – both Wi-Fi and 3G. Kindle Paperwhite Wi-Fi can be pre-ordered starting today. It comes at a price of just $119 and it will start shipping on September 30. Kindle Paperwhite Wi-Fi + 3G is still not available for pre-order. However, you can sign up and receive a notification when that happens. The 3G edition of the device will cost $189. It will most probably begin to ship on November 5.
