After the fashion weeks in New York and London, comes the time to head to Milan. The Spring/Summer 2014 edition of the Milan Fashion Week kicked off earlier this week. The event will continue through September 23rd (Monday) and it will showcase fashion designers’ visions for the spring and summer season of 2014.

What to Expect

Milan Fashion Week includes more over 74 different runway presentations. In addition, it will show the products of more than 130 different labels.

Unlike other fashion events, Milan Fashion Week is known to be more glamorous. Designs and styles in Milan are always sexier and yet quite elegant. Also, many of the collections often include some fun, entertaining and surprising elements. This year is not likely to be the exception of this rule.

Opportunity for Young Talents

What is special about the fashion week in Milan is that it is not only open for the well-known designers and brands. Milan Fashion Week is also one of the biggest platforms for young and coming designers and professionals. Over the past few years, Milan is more open to new names in the industry. As a result, apart from usual suspects, like Roberto Cavalli, Versace, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Prada, the event will give a chance to some less familiar names. Among them is, for example, designer Stella Jean. There will be about five more rising professionals who will also display their visions for Spring/Summer 2014.

Schedule

Today, the catwalks will be reserved for the collections of Alberta Ferretti, Dsquared and Gucci. Tomorrow fashionistas in Milan will have the chance to see the Prada and Fendi in action. On Friday, Versace, Emporio Armani and Etro will be the ones under the stoplight. During the weekend, the Milan runways will be dominated by Roberto Cavalli, Moschino, Bottega Veneta, Salvatore Ferragamo, Missoni and Dolce & Gabbana. The event will end on Monday with the collections of Gianfranco Ferre and Giorgio Armani.

Milan Fashion Week will be accompanies by various other fashion-focused events. Yesterday, for instance, the fashion celebrations kicked off with Night Out organized by Vogue Fashion. Today, a special gala event by Conde Nast will take place at the La Scala theatre. There, Milan guests and residents will have the chance to enjoy wonderful performances by renowned classic music artists like tenor Vittorio Grigolo.

Fashion is definitely in Milan’s air!
