Burj Al Arab blushes pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

From her majestic sail to her ultimate afternoon tea, Burj Al Arab will go pink inside and out throughout the month of October to help raise awareness of breast cancer.

Each day in October between 7:30pm and 8:30pm, Burj Al Arab will show its support for the campaign by lighting its sail pink and adorning it with the symbolic pink ribbon.

Pink Afternoon Tea
Throughout the month all afternoon teas at the hotel will include an extensive array of pink pastries. Delicacies designed especially for the month include Ispahan macaroons filled with rose cream; pink choux; pink apple mousse cake, pink New York cheesecake, strawberry and pistachio tarts and pink-glazed traditional French mille feuilles.

Pink Roses
An estimated 100,000 pink roses will be flown in to further raise awarenesss. The hotel’s team of 12 florists have developed an array of pink floral displays. All guests chauffeured to the hotel will be presented with pink roses and all women who dine at any of the hotel’s restaurants will be presented a single pink rose.

Colleagues
Burj Al Arab will work with Pink Caravan to provide free voluntary medical examinations for the 1,600 staff as well as guidance on self-examination. All colleagues will also wear the iconic pink ribbon throughout the month.

“Contributing towards this worldwide initiative has always been a very rewarding experience,” said Heinrich Morio, Burj Al Arab’s General Manager. “Breast cancer is something that affects so many people globally, both directly and indirectly. If we can help raise awareness and encourage more people to be regularly screened, then we have achieved something very powerful.
