Although Black Friday is dedicated to Christmas shopping, and Christmas is the most generous holiday, shoppers are rather selfish during the busiest shopping period. A new survey by DealNews has found that 44% of all shoppers spend on Black Friday best deals exclusively for themselves.
Still, this means that the majority of people (56%) continue to shop for Christmas presents. Many consumers take advantage of Black Friday best deals to buy something for the kids (21%). Another 16% of them prefer focus on shopping for their relatives. About 13% of consumers use Black Friday discounts to get something nice for their spouse or partner. Only 7% of holiday shoppers pick presents for their friends and colleagues.
Men are More Selfish than Women
Interestingly, men seem to be more selfish when it comes to gift buying. More than half of the gentlemen shop only for themselves on Black Friday (51%). Women are much more generous. In fact, they mainly shop for others. Nearly 60% of the ladies look for gifts for relatives and kids. Only 25% purchase things for themselves. However, men are more generous to their significant other. While barely 7% of women buy presents for their partners on Black Friday, about 15% of men shop for their loved women.
Age Gaps
So, which age groups is the most selfish one when on a Black Friday discount hunt? According to the survey, the first spot is shared between consumes aged 18-35 and those older than 55. About 57% young shoppers invest in products which they will use. With elderly people, this percentage reaches 38%. So, it seems that middle-aged consumers are the most generous. Well, that is not entirely true. The study reveals that middle-aged folks are only willing to show their generosity to kids (33%). In addition, about 31% shop mainly for themselves.

But, who can blame Black Friday shoppers! Often the offers are so tempting that consumers are left with a little choice but to get advantage on Black Friday best deals for their own benefit.
