The 2014 Consumer Electronics Show will surprise geeks with a great variety of gadgets. However, it seems that new smartphones will again take the top spot. Nearly every big tech company that will participate in the event either has announced or has hinted that it will unveil a new smart handset at this year’s CES. Here are some of the new smartphones you can expect to see at the 2014 show in the U.S.
Samsung Galaxy Camera Smartphone and Samsung Windows Phone 8
There are still little clues on Samsung’s plans for CES 2014. However, the South Korean company is not really likely to introduce Galaxy S5. Instead, it is said to show off a Galaxy Camera handset, as well as a Windows Phone 8 smartphone.
Sony Sirius
Sony is preparing to release its Sony Sirius and Sony Canopus this year. The launch dates of these two gadgets continues to be a mystery. However, Sirius may actually be unveiled at CES. It is said that Sony is planning to use the device as a flagship model and to put it head-to-head with Xperia Z Ultra, for example. Sony’s upcoming smartphone is predicted to have a 5.2” screen and a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. In addition, it is rumoured to come with a 20.7MP camera and a robust Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset.
Li-Fi Smartphone
Don’t worry if you have not heard of Li-Fi smartphones. This is brand new technology which relies on light rays to transfer information wirelessly. In theory, it should offer much faster performance speed. The Li-Fi technology was introduced in the fall of 2013. It is predicted that CES 2014 will offer geeks the first Li-Fi smartphone prototypes.
LG G2 mini
Similar like Samsung, LG is not expected to introduce its flagship device G3 at CES 2014. Instead, the company will probably show off a smaller version of G2 – LG G2 mini. The phone is will be a mid-range product and it will certainly come at a more budget-friendly price. As for G3, we may need to wait a little longer.
Sony Xperia Z1s
Over the last few weeks, many Sony smartphone models were leaked on the web. Therefore, it is hard to say which of them will be seen at CES. However, it is almost certain that among them will be a 6” phablet device, as well as Sony Xperia E2. In addition to that, Sony may unveil a smaller edition of Xperia Z1 which is currently dubbed Xperia Z1s.
Lenovo to Introduce Four Smartphones
Lenovo already announced that it will introduce not one, but four different smartphones in Las Vegas. Among them will be Vibe Z which comes with a 3,000mAh battery, a Snapdragon 800 processor, as well as a titanium body. Also, this will be Lenovo’s first device which will support LTE. The other three devices are Lenovo S930, S650 and A859. They will target the budget market and will range between $220 and $320. Lenovo Vibe Z, on the other hand, will be offered at $550.
ZTE Even More Ambitious
Lenovo will offer a wide range of smartphone devices at CES 2014. However, ZTE will try to top that by unveiling five different smart handsets. The company shared that it will use the show to introduce its ZTE Grand S II. The phone’s key feature is advanced voice control with which user can unlock their device, for instance. The other ZTE smartphones which will premiere in Las Vegas are Nubia 5S andf Nubia 5S Mini. Both of them will be powered by quad-core Snapdragon CPUs. Also, the phone maker will launch its Gorilla Glass Iconic Phablet and Sonata 4G.
Huawei
Huawei is planning to organize a dedicated event at this year’s CES. This means that they will unveil something big. Most likely, this will be the high-end phablet Huawei Ascend Mate 2. There are not many details on this device apart from the fact that it will rock a 6.1” and a number of cool features.
Alcatel
In 2013, Alcatel finally showed signs that it is still alive. The company managed to make a strong comeback by releasing many new smartphones on the market. They varied from low-end to mid-range and even high-end models. Alcatel will participate at CES 2014 and it is almost certain that it will surprise geeks with a few more smartphones.
Tablets may be gaining speed, but smartphones are not going anywhere. CES 2014 clearly shows that technology companies are still focusing their attention on smart handsets.
