The United Arab Emirates became the first country to release a smart government app store. The new platform is part of the UAE’s smart government strategy.

The unique mobile application store already offers over 100 apps. They were developed by federal or local agencies and can serve about 700 people on one place. The applications are available on both Android and iOS smart devices.

In addition to that, the service was released in partnership with both Google and Apple. In that way, the UAE government wants to make sure that all residents of the country will have equal access to the app store.

According to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Rule of Dubai, as well as vice presidents and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, the purpose of this innovative platform is to introduce smart services into people’s daily lives.

UAE’s government assures that all applications that are and will be offered on the store are trusted, reliable and secure. Also, they were created to meet the needs not only of individuals, but also of businesses. In addition, the government informs that in the future the apps will be further improved.

As it was mentioned earlier, the app store is part of UAE’s smart government strategy. It is scheduled that the country’s smart government will be ready by the middle of 2015. However, citizens of the United Arab Emirates are already encouraged to start using the new smart services and apps.

People already seem very open towards the smart improvements. Dubai’s MyID service, for instance, recently reached 11,200 of users. The platform itself offers quick access to all services related to Dubai’s government. It is part of the emirate’s Smart City campaign, which kicked off during the last months of 2013.

Presently, MyID provides access to more than 250 services offered by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Dubai Public Prosecution, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Department of Economic Development, as well as Dubai Smart Government (DSG).
