Dubai Schools Inspection Bureau’s individual reports for the 2013/14 academic year are now available online or via the Knowledge and Human Development Authority’s smart applications.

Out of the 141 schools inspected, 12 mostly GEMS-managed schools were rated outstanding, 57 rated good, 64 rated acceptable and eight rated unsatisfactory. Overall, eight schools have improved their ratings and the number of unsatisfactory schools has decreased.

“We encourage all parents to read the school reports in full,” said Jameela Al Muhairi, Chief of DSIB at KHDA. “Parents should be fully informed of the strengths and weaknesses of their child’s school and have a comprehensive understanding of its progress over the past year.”

The reports give a detailed account of the DSIB inspection findings. The key factors analysed include social and personal development of students, the standard of teaching and assessment, the quality of the curriculum, health and safety, school support, and leadership.

More than 89% of the student population attend 158 private schools in Dubai, which offer a choice of 15 different curricula. Last year student enrolment increased by 8%, with 243,715 students now attending private schools in the emirate.
