iPhone fans are waiting in anticipation for the release of the bigger, more stylish and even more smarter iPhone 6. The next generation phone is expected to be launched in September, but now a new report says its release will be delayed until 2015.
Still unannounced, iPhone 6 will most probably come in two versions – a 4.7-inch display and the more exciting 5.5-inch phablet model, according to rumors around the web. Grainy photos “leaked” to blogs and tech websites show an attractive bigger smartphone compared to the current 4-inch screen. But there is some bad news to Apple fans who would love to get their hands on the rumored phablet iPhone this September. Its launch may be delayed until 2015 due to production issues, according to KGI securities analyst Ming Chi Kuo. And although we’re not usually considering Apple rumors, which are often just exaggerations and simply science fiction, it may be useful to keep track on this one. It appears Ming Chi Kuo has a truly deep knowledge of tech giant and most of his analyses and predictions were actually accurate.
According to his report, there is a particular glitch in the touch sensitivity of the screen near its edges, resulting from the increased size of the in-cell panel. There is also some uneven colouring of the new black metal case. The technology used for the smaller, 4.7-inch version is the same and is also experiencing issues. Another problem, according to the analyst, is that the new scratch-proof sapphire display won’t be able to pass the necessary drop test.
If the report is true, Apple doesn’t have many options. It will either launch the smaller iPhone 6 at the end of this year and the bigger one in the beginning of 2015, or it will delay the release of both products. Of course, there is also a chance of a mid-November release, in the peak of the Christmas shopping season, when many companies launch new products for pre-order and at a higher price. Kuo also predicts that with the release of the iPhone 6, Apple will cut down the prices of iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C, which is a quite usual practice and a nice surprise for customers.
As always, the company stays silent, even when it comes to the much-anticipated iWatch – it will be most probably revealed in a few months, but currently, it is officially non-existent.
