Leonardo DiCaprio isn’t just great looks and worldwide fame, but also the smartest amongst celebrities on social media. The “Wolf of Wall Street” actor ranks first in the recently published 50 Smartest Celebrities on Twitter, which puts together Wyclef Jean, Paulo Coelho and Justin Bieber’s mom.
DiCaprio, as an environmental activist in the recent years, often tweets about global warming and ocean preservation. And this, according to the Time Magazine, has helped him take over famous journalists, writers and musicians in the list. Named “The Smartest Celebrity on Twitter”, he has a following of 10,537,477 people and an average reading level of 7.5. But who are the other celebs that are big on fans and brains? Here are the top 10 smartest celebrities on social media:

The ranking seems a bit odd, considering for instance Mike Tyson, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie and Kendal Jenner get a better positions acclaimed authors such as Harry Potter’s creator J.K. Rowling or America’s favourite TV star Oprah Winfrey. There are some really interesting names on list, including Bollywood star Akshkay Kumar at No. 25, the Filipino beauty queen, actress and media personality Anne Curtis (No.28), and Ricky Martin at 30th position.
So, how was the list created? In order to compile the top 50, Times looked at the most followed celebrities on Twitter and analyzed their reading levels of their tweets. It was achieved through a popular reading comprehension test, called SMOG, or for those interested, Simple Measure of Gobbledygook. It basically counts the number of 3-syllabl words in your tweet and calculates how many years of education will be required to understand it. In other words, SMOG tells how complicated your tweet is.
