Salary the Most Important Factor While Considering a New Job

Naukrigulf has recently conducted a survey with job seekers to find about factors influencing their decision to choose a job and top aspirational sectors in the gulf region. The survey saw the participation of more than 12000 job seekers. The analysis of the findings reveals that Salary stands as a numerouno factor when it comes to selecting a new job. 74% of the job seekers who participated in the survey ranked salary as the top reason for selecting a job. The roles which are on offer and the reputation of the company emerge as the second most important factor with 41% of respondents ranking them as the second most important factor while selecting a job.

Commenting on the survey findings, Tarun Aggarwal, Business Head, Naukrigulf.com said “The result of the survey reinforces the fact that salary is the main factor which helps the job seekers in deciding a new job. It also reveals that Foreign and Multinational companies are gaining popularity amongst professionals in the region. The survey also helps us to gauge the preferred industries of those seeking employing thereby presenting a complete picture of professional’s preferences”.

Other benefits like accommodation, insurance also matter however there is a huge gap when compared to the previous factors. It is followed by Location of the job which is the least important factor in selecting a job.

The survey also asked job seekers about their most preferred location within Middle East in the gulf region and more than three-Fourth (76%) of the job seekers ranked UAE as their most preferred location to work while Qatar is ranked second with 43% of job seekers stating the same. 28% of Job Seekers said that Saudi Arabia is their third most preferred location to work.

Foreign and Multinational companies emerge as the most preferred sector in the region with 74% of the job seekers surveyed indicating their preference to work in the sector. More than half of the job seekers (52%) stated government sector as the second most preferred sector while 38% of job seekers preferred to work with a local company.
