Hilton Worldwide announced several exciting new options for guests to take advantage of. It will let you control virtually every aspect of your stay through your smartphone, including check-ins and locking your door. In fact, once the Hilton app is launched later this summer, guests will be able to easily use their Android or iOS device as a hotel room key. Here are several things the app will allow you to do on your own:
Instead of waiting in line in the lobby, wasting your precious vacation time, you will be able to check in immediately via your smartphone, get your key, and make yourself comfortable in the room.
One of the best new features is that you can choose your preferred room after looking at a digital image of the floor plan. You will see actual photos of the rooms with each suite’s layout, furnishing, and so on.
The greatest feature, however, arrives in early 2015, and includes special technology across Hilton hotels, which will allow guests to unlock their doors with their smartphones. No more waiting for checking in and getting the key – if you have a reservation, you can simply walk in the lobby and proceed directly to your room.
The automated check-ins have been tried before by other hotel brands, as well. However, they weren’t very successful as they didn’t give the guest full freedom of choice. It was rather a kiosk-like check-in system, which totally killed the hospitality aspect of, well, hospitality. The major problem of this type of automation is that it lacks personal attitude, but Hilton’s app will allow guests to choose and customize their stay. In addition, it will significantly reduce the time wasted on checking in a hotel and working out all the details with the staff. Sometimes, it can take hours and the worst part is that it also makes the start of your holiday extremely stressful.
