What Kids Can Teach Us about Happiness

Remember when you were a kid and when life seemed simple, fun and exciting? It is always amusing to see how adults are trying to find happiness, whereas children simply live happiness. Grown-ups like to come up with their own theories for what makes them happy or could make them happy. They are masters in trying to explain feelings through logic. Kids, on the other hand, always seem carefree, jolly and energetic. Children do not try to explain happiness, they just give into it. Here are some of the most valuable happiness lessons, which you can learn from kids.

Be direct and honest – Kids are very good at saying whatever is on their mind. They do not hide behind a mask of politeness and if they do not like something, they would make sure you know it. They do not bottle down their feelings and thoughts and that gives them a natural sense of freedom.

Follow your instincts – Adults can spend long hours, days, even weeks in trying to take the best choice they can. Kids, on the other hand, jump directly into the danger. Sometimes they are burnt, but even mistakes count as experience, right!

Words are not enough – If you want to express youself why rely only on words? Children struggle with vocabulary and grammatical structures. That is probably why they find alternative ways to express their emotions and feelings. They dance, sing, paint, hum, create… and they are not afraid if someone is watching them.

Sleepy time is happy time – Getting enough sleep is something that even kids know. Whenever they run out of energy, they do not try to recharge by taking in huge doses of caffeine, they just go and take a nap or go to bed early. Sleeping is truly the best way to recharge your batteries. Just ask kids!

Don’t hold a grudge – Holding a grudge is one of the most unnecessary things you can do. Why bother fussing over something someone did or said months or even years ago? The past is past and you are living in the present. Children can have big fights and disagreements with their friends or siblings, but they are good in making up.
