What Kids Can Teach Us about Happiness

Always have hope – Never lose your hope and your faith. Although they have never seen him, kids believe in Santa Claus and send them letters every year. Follow their example and have faith. Even if you cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel, know that it is there.

Don’t hide your fears – As we already mentioned above, kids wear their heart on their sleeve. They never hide their feelings, especially when it comes to fear. If children are afraid or worried about something, they will quickly run to you either to share their concerns or to ask you for help. Even if they are not sure that there is a monster under the bed, they will tell you to check just in case. Adults often keep their deepest fears for themselves and refuse to ask for assistance. However, that only makes their life harder and more complicated.

Everything exciting – Find pleasure in the little things and take the time to smell the roses. Children have the gift to find the excitement in everything they do and see. They celebrate even the most trivial things like reaching the upper shelf, because they know that no matter how small achievements are always achievements.

Be active – Don’t just drag around the room or spend the day in front of the TV or the computer. Jump, play, run! No, we are not talking about going more often to the gym. Be active in a fun
way. Grab a Frisbee, ball, jumping rope or anything that will make you move that body and not torture it.

Everyone you meet is a potential new friend – Put two kids in a room full of adults and children will quickly become friends. In contrast, grown-ups can sit everyday next to the same people in the metro or the bus and not even exchange a common greeting.

Stick to these lessons and you will realize that kids are true happiness gurus!
