Dubai has already turned into Middle East’s fashion hub, but it now seems to be working on becoming one of the top fashion capitals of the world. A brand new fashion initiative is set to debut in the city. The event is called Fashion Week Middle East and it will be held almost simultaneously with the fall edition of Fashion Forward.
October can now be called Dubai’s fashion month, since two of the region’s biggest fashion events will take place namely during that month. Fashion Forward is scheduled to kick off on October 4 and to run until October 6. Along with it, a new fashion show will make its debut – Fashion Week Middle East.
Fashion Week Middle East should not be confused with Middle East Fashion Week, since they have different organizers and focus on different types of designers. While Middle East Fashion Week includes mainly more collections by international designers, the upcoming Fashion Week Middle East is said to serve as a platform for designers from both the region and the world.
Fashion Week Middle East will take place between October 1 – 5, at the Dubai International Financial Centre. In other words, it will coincide with the Fashion Forward. About 50 designers will participate in Dubai’s newest fashion initiative. They will present their Spring/Summer 2015 collection in 50 different shows.
Among the designers that will take part in the event will be Shrekahnth and Furne One. In addition to that, U.S. fashion guru Betsy Johnson, known for her eccentric and playful designs, will also show off her latest collection in Dubai. Also, Cameron Silver, will be the guest of honour.
The organizers of the initiative promise that Fashion Week Middle East will be the region’s biggest premier fashion event. They also state that it will be an inaugural fashion initiative. Simply said, it will have two editions per year – one in October and another in March.
Even though Fashion Week Middle East will directly compete against Fashion Forward, it may help Dubai further reaffirm its reputation of a fashion hub.
