UAE has once again strengthened its reputation of a global travel hub. The latest updated list with the world’s longest non-stop flights is dominated by the Middle East region and Dubai, in particular.

Five of the ten longest commercial flight routes either depart from or arrive in a city located in the Middle East. More impressively, four of them are in the United Arab Emirates. Dubai, alone is featured on the ranking with three flights, which all depart from the emirate.

In addition, the international airline companies that offer the longest non-stop flights, which are currently in operation, are mainly from the Middle East. Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways operates the third longest flight, while the Saudi Arabian Airlines run the fourth. Dubai’s Emirates, on the other hand, holds three of the longest non-stop flights today, which is the exact same number of the long flights operated by the U.S. carriers on the ranking.

  • Dallas Forth Worth, U.S. – Sydney, Australia (Qantas Airways) – 13.790 km
  • Atlanta, U.S. – Johannesburg, South Africa (Delta Air Lines) – 13,572 km
  • Abu Dhabi, UAE – Los Angeles, U.S. (Etihad Airways) – 13,494 km
  • Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – Los Angeles, U.S. (Saudi Arabian Airlines) – 13,422 km
  • Dubai, UAE – Los Angeles, U.S. (Emirates) – 13,412 km
  • Dubai, UAE – Houston, U.S. (Emirates) – 13,140 km
  • Dallas, U.S. – Hong Kong, China (American Airlines) – 13,053 km
  • Dubai, UAE – San Francisco, U.S. (Emirates) – 13,037 km
  • Hong Kong, China – New York, U.S. (Cathay Pacific) – 12, 983 km
  • Hong Kong, China –Newark, U.S. (Cathay Pacific/United Airlines) – 12, 971 km

Still, the United States leads in terms of the number of entries it has on the ranking. All of the top 10 flights on the latest list either depart or arrive to the North American country. Los Angeles, alone is part of three of the world’s longest non-stop flight routes at the moment.

Another curious fact about the list is that, judging by the routes included in it, the leading manufacturers of ultra long-haul aircrafts are Boeing and Airbus. Airbus A380-800 and Boeing 777-300ER seem to be particularly popular for such kinds of flights.

The list would have been completely different if there were direct non-stop flights from Europe to Australia or New Zealand. That is because the distance between them is much greater compared to all routes in this top 10.
