burj-dubai-4-august-2008-11Just a few weeks ago, Burj Khalifa broke the world record for the highest observation deck. Now, the world’s tallest tower is once again making the headlines with a new Guinness record – world’s highest ad.

Burj Khalifa successfully conquered the peak of advertising by entering the Guinness World Records book with a record for the highest advertisement in the world. The ad’s height measures at 452 meters, which is barely half of the skyscrapers full height. Therefore, there is even a room for more record breaking. The previous record was set in the U.S. and it was with height of 310 meters.

The purpose of the world’s newest highest ad is to promote the Dubai World Hospitality Championship (DWHC), an event that attempts to turn Dubai into one of the world’s top culinary destinations and to promote the country’s hospitality. It is not hard to see why Burj Khalifa was selected as the installation spot of the advertisement. Apart from being the tallest building in the world, it is also the most visited attraction in Dubai. Every month, the tower is visited by nearly 150,000 people from all over the world.

This is not the first world record for DWHC either. In 2013, the champtionship entered the Guinness World Records book by making the biggest Aseeda (dish made of wheat flour). Its weight was estimated at 2.8 tons. Also, DWHC is known for its chocolate truffle mosaic, which was announced as the largest in the world. It featured Dubai’s Expo 2020 logo, it covered an area of more than 400 sq. m. and it included a total of 4,000 pieces of chocolate. The third record of the championship is for the biggest pickled vegetables. According to the Guinness World Records, their weight was 1.5 tons. Exactly 1,520 liters of vinegar, 1579 kg of vegetables and 166 hours were invested in their making.

This is not the only advertising record which Dubai holds. At the beginning of 2013, the city also broke the world record for the biggest indoor illuminated ad sign. It measured over 174 sq. m and it was installed at Dubai International Airport.
