One of the most successful animated films of all time, Pixar’s Toy Story will make a comeback. The fourth movie from franchise is scheduled to be released in a little over two years from now.
Toy Story 4 will hit the theatres on June 16th, 2017. The new film will be directed not by one but by four different directors. The team will be joined by John Lasseter who directed to original Toy Story movie, Lee Unkrich who is behind Toy Story 3, Pete Docter who work on Up and Andrew Stanton best known for directing Finding Nemo. In addition, the screenplay for the upcoming production will be written by actress Rashida Jones (The Office and The Social Network) and actor Will McCormack (The Sopranos, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Brothers & Sisters, The Office).
According to John Lasseter, the third Toy Story movie had a perfect ending, with which he was more than happy. That is why the project for fourth film was set aside for a long time, until a new brilliant idea was born from the minds of the four directors that will work on Toy Story 4.
Actors Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will again voice the main characters in the movie. In fact, an interesting thing about the production is that Hanks and Allen were actually signed for it before it was announced that there will be another Toy Story film.
The last Toy Story movie was released four years ago, in 2010. The film won two Oscars – for Best Original Song and for Best Animated Feature. It also managed to gross over $1 billion worldwide and became one of the most popular animations ever. Toy Story was even more successful that hit productions like Finding Nemo and Shrek. The only animated movie that enjoyed even higher grossing was Disney’s Frozen.
Luckily for the creators of Toy Story 4, there is still no word on when Disney will release Frozen 2. The company has already scheduled a short Frozen film production for the spring of 2015, but is has not revealed any other Frozen plans for the future. However, given that Disney bought Pixar a few years ago, it will probably avoid bumping two of its highest grossing movies into one year.
