New Year Public Holiday Announced

UAE’ Ministry of Labour has declared Thursday, 1st January, 2015, as official paid holiday for all private sector employees in the country to celebrate the New Year, reported the official news agency. The announcement came following a statement issued by  the Ministry of Labour, according to the provisions of Article 74 of Federal Law No. 08 of 1980 concerning the regulation of labour relations, and its amendments.

Employees of Federal Ministries and related entities will have a holiday on Thursday, 1st January, 2015, as offices will be closed for the day to mark the New Year. The announcement was made in a circular issued today by the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, FAHR, to Ministries and Federal Entities affected by the decision.

New Year’s celebrations conveniently fall on Thursday and provide the opportunity to people to spend more time at home with their families during the following weekend.
