On January 4, 2015, Burj Khalifa officially turned five! Although the world’s tallest building already marked its anniversary with festive events on the day of its birthday, the celebrations will continue for five full days.
The birthday event goes under the slogan “Five fabulous years of achievements, pioneering, splendor and magnificence.” On the very day of Burj Khalifa’s fifth anniversary, visitors were able to participate in a special radio and TV show aired live from level 125. In addition, everyone who had purchased a ticket for level 124, got a complementary ticket for level 125.
Nevertheless, most the festive events will be on the observation deck At The Top. Even though this is no longer the highest observation deck on Burj Khalifa, it is its oldest one. An interesting fact about At The Top is that during the first five years since the opening of the tower, this observation deck has welcomed more than 5 million visitors from all over the world.
There will also be special At The Top SKY tours, which was recently claimed the titled the world’s tallest observation deck. Also, the LED illumination, another record-breaker, will continue to mesmerize Dubai residents and guests until January 9. The unique light show that was included in New Year’s Eve celebrations in Dubai shows the flags of the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman and Bahrain. In addition, it offers Mashrabiya and other traditional Arabic patterns.
Social media users, on the other hand, will have the opportunity to win special prizes, like invites for Burj Khalifa anniversary tours. In that way, they will have the opportunity to mark the birthday of the world’s tallest tower at 456 meters in the sky. Other prizes that were already given away in the social media raffles included exclusive silver models of the building. In addition to that, during the celebrations, Burj Khalifa guests will get a gift box with signature chocolates and goodies.
Although Dubai’s Burj Khalifa opened half a decade ago, it still holds a long list of Guinness world records. Among them are tallest building, tallest free-standing structure in the world, highest number of stories, elevator with the longest travel distance and highest occupied floor in the world.
