Meet locals
Try meeting local people as they will enrich your travel more than anything else. Basic English is spoken almost everywhere, but you can combine it with some universal body language and hand gestures. There is an alternative – meet with an expatriate, who can show you around the local restaurants, the best beaches, the many budget or even free attractions, and so on. Register at a website for expats, which gathers expat communities in various countries around the world – you will find new friends, tips for the country or city you are traveling to, and a lot of useful information.
Packing essentials
One of the traveler’s best friends will always be the good earplugs, so choose the best for you – earphones, ear buds, muffs, and so on. There are thousands of models and brands on Amazon which you may order and receive fast at your doorstep. Another must-have is the scarf as it’s quite a multifunctional fashion accessory. It’s great for a towel, sun protection, cold protection, an eye mask, and many more. And our personal favourite – a good quality camera with great image quality, a larger zoom, and lots of professional options such as the one here.
Don’t take life too seriously – be patient and let it happen
Something will always go wrong, so don’t think you can predict every little detail of your journey. There are always things you just can’t control. Simply sit back, relax and let life happen around you. Learn how to laugh at yourself, because you will probably find yourself in at least one silly situation. Whatever happens, be patient and calm. Don’t forget it could be worse!
