Have any plans for the weekend? If you are spending it in Dubai, get ready for a few special days of entertainment, shopping, music concerts and extraordinary dining. The jam-packed weekend calendar of Dubai will offer a little bit for everyone, so before heading to the biggest attractions, let us guide you through some of the most amazing events this week.

On Monday, Gulf Photo Plus at al Serkal Avenue launched the “Everyday Middle East” exhibition, which showcases photos from 25 photographers from the Middle East and North Africa. In fact, this is an Instagram feed of everyday life images taken by these professionals, which has attracted more than the 46,000 followers already. You can visit the gallery and see the collection of 90 images until 26th February for free.

The award-winning Prix-Pictet “Consumption” exhibition is opening on Thursday at East Wing gallery, Limestone House in DIFC. Focused on environment and sustainability-related issues, the fifth cycle of the exhibition displays different photographers from all around the world – Adam Bartos, Motoyuki Daifu, Rineke Dijkstra, Hong Hao, Boris Mikhailov, Michael Schmidt, Allan Sekula and Laurie Simmons, and others.

Week 21 of the Dubai Camel Racing Season 2014-2015 is running from Sunday till Thursday at Al Marmoum Camel Racetrack on the Dubai Al Ain Road, so you can see the traditional sport. And on Thursday evening you can attend Race 2 of Dubai World Cup Carnival 2015 at Meydan Racecourse. On Saturday night, the sixth race from the racing at Meydan sessions will take place.

From Wednesday, the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding will be presenting “EAT Dubai” – a fun play about five people, who are sharing a traditional Emirati dinner. The play looks differently at problems such as the attitudes and the prejudices to different cultures, so it’s a very intriguing story for both Emiratis and expats. The ticket (AED 460) includes dinner, as well.

Running from 15th January till 24 January, the second edition of Market Outside the Box is held at South Ridge Park as part of the Dubai Shopping Festival. The alternative fest will feature around 60 retail stores, cafes, boutique shops, and art galleries, created from refurbished shipping containers. There will be a lot of musical performances, movie nights, artisan workshops, sports and competitions.

The Smurfs are coming live on stage this week at Dubai World Trade Centre for their world premiere. Bring the kids to see how the smurfs will fight the evil Gargamel, their sworn enemy, as he hatches a plan to stop the Smuf Spring Festival. The show will run for four days, starting this Friday and tickets are AED 75- AED 500.

One of the biggest musical concerts this week is the world premiere at Sheikh Rashid Hall of DWTC of Arijit Singh who is performing alongside the Grand Symphony Orchestra from London. The sensational singer is the leading singer for all major Bollywood movies right now. His show starts at 9.30 pm. on Thursday and tickets will be priced between AED 125 and AED 1,500.

Friday will also bring us another exciting night – the World Classical Series is returning with “Spirit of Vienna” – a concert of several members of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Staatsopera Orchestras. They will be performing their own versions of classical Viennese music to the One & Only at Royal Mirage. Tickets start from AED 250.
