The platform currently features nearly 1,300 panoramic photo and video materials shot throughout Dubai. The site offers a map with various hotspots around the city all of which can be explored through immersive 360-degree views. In addition, the platform offers many interactive features, like selecting views, full-screen mode, dragging within some of the views and sharing views to social media websites. The locations are categories and include everything from hotels and shopping malls to museums and ultimate luxury facilities.

Web users can explore Dubai from the rooftops of some of the world’s tallest buildings, like record-breaker Burj Khalifa, through a helicopter, videos and many others. They can even head to the desert and experience a virtual bike ride through the desert.

However, apart from visual content, Dubai 360 also offers detailed information about each of the locations that can be seen on the map. So, if you choose to pay a virtual visit to Dubai Museum, you will get a guided tour around it.

Dubai residents will also find the platform interesting and useful. Dubai 360 includes transport locations, as well as various restaurants and cafes that will allow people to, for example, to plan their day in advance.

This unique online project was introduced back in August 2014 by Dubai’s Crown Prince Skeikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. On his social media pages, Sheikh Hamdan stated that Dubai360 was a “groundbreaking” platform. Web users were able to see and test the service in advance by watching a time-lapse video of the Dubai International Airport.

A curios fact about the Dubai360 project is that it has captured more than 8 terapixels of photos, which is equal to 8,000,000 megapixels. About 500,000 photographers participated in the making of this virtual city tour. Moreover, this is only the beginning since people behind the project assure that the website will be constantly updated with new locations, images and videos.
