Dubai’s list of records just expanded with a new achievement – world’s largest vertical maze. Officials from the Guinness World Records officially confirmed that the city’s Maze Tower has the biggest vertical maze ever created. With this new record, Dubai now has over 100 records!
As its name suggests, Maze Tower’s exterior includes massive vertical mazes. The rear and the front facades of the building form different maze puzzles. Thanks to the maze patterns in which the tower is covered, its exterior looks almost alive when touched by the natural daylight.
Dubai’s Maze Tower opened back in 2012 and it became known as the building with the first vertical maze. Now, three years later, it also turns out that is the largest in the world. The tower operates as a mixed-use building and it has 55 floors. It is located on Sheikh Zayed Road and it is constructed from ten different natural stones, among which are Siberian white marble, black slate, golden pyrite, flamed verda bahia and others.
Dubai’s record for the largest vertical maze is not the first maze-themes achievement listed in the Guinness archives. In fact, an entire chapter can be dedicated to such records. Some of the most interesting and unusual maze-focused records include the largest ice maze, largest permanent hedge maze, largest temporary crop maze, largest hand-drawn maze and many more.
With this new record, Dubai’s Guinness World Record surpasses the 100-records mark. Also, even though we are still in the early days of 2015, this is not the city’s first record for the year. Dubai has already reached new Guinness records heights by becoming holder of records like longest handmade gold chain, largest LED-illuminated façade and a few others. With this tempo and after such a major milestone, we would not be surprised if Dubai breaks a record for city with most Guinness Book entries… or at least most records achieved by a city in 2015!
