Speculations that Apple is planning to open a retail store in the United Arab Emirates have been circulating over the past couple of years. Months passed, but the company did not seem to have made any progress, or an announcement … until now! The tech giant latest job postings suggest that it is preparing to open two stores in the country. In addition, there are reports the plans will aterialise rather sooner than later.
Right now, Apple is speed-hiring professionals in the UAE. Between January 19-22, the technology giant has posted seven job listings online all of which are based either in Dubai or in Abu Dhabi. Some of them, however, are particularly intriguing. Apple is looking to hire not one, but two “Store Leaders.” One of them will be based in Abu Dhabi, while the second – in Dubai.
In addition to that, Apple is hiring Managers and Business Managers in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. According to the job descriptions one of the main tasks of the managers will be “keeping an Apple Store thriving.”
Of course, that could just be a reference to Apple’s official online store in the UAE. Nevertheless, the description given for the Business Manager position suggests something else. According to it, part of the job of these professionals will be to work at the Apple Store, as well as to “meet costumers on the sales floor, surrounded by Apple technology.” As we all know, the online sales process does not include meeting consumers face-to-face. Therefore, something is definitely brewing.
A recent report based on information obtained by Apple insiders, also states that the technology giant is getting ready to open two UAE retail stores that will be located in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. According to it, the Dubai-based store will be located in the Mall of the Emirates. It also confirmed earlier rumours that the store in the emirate will be larger even than the flagship Apple Store in New York. The report also claims that the Dubai’s Apple Store will welcome its first clients in February 2015 – an opening date that is just around the corner.
Insiders also inform that Apple will open its Abu Dhabi retail store during the first quarter of 2015. However, it does not give any other information on the company’s second store in the country, but it might be located in the new mall on Yas Island.
Not even one of the both Apple stores in UAE has been confirmed yet, but the latest job postings by the company say more than enough.
